Canada

The Canadian wine industry is developed mainly in southern British Columbia and Southern Ontario. The most recognized product on the international market is ice wine, which is produced in most Canadian wine regions, especially in the Okanagan Valley — due to the peculiarities of the production of such wine, it can differ favorably from wine from grapes of the same varieties, but grown in warmer regions of the world.

In 1988, three important events took place in the history of viticulture in Canada: the Canadian-American Free Trade Agreement with the United States was signed, the standard of the "Wine Trade Quality Union" (VQA) was established and the main program for improving the quality of the vine was introduced. Each of these events has in one way or another improved the viability of the wine industry in Canada.

Canadian wine producers have less than 50% of the Canadian wine market, which makes Canada one of the few wine-producing countries where domestically produced wines do not dominate imported ones.
